The author gives another proof of a Kummer-type II transformation formula for the generalized hypergeometric function \({}_ 2F_ 2\) established before in [\textit{A. K. Rathie} and \textit{T. K. Pogány}, Math. Commun. 13, No. 1, 63--66 (2008; Zbl 1146.33002)]. The proof uses Gauss's summation theorem and Legendre's duplication formula for the gamma function.
