    In the paper, the authors investigate the linear twists of \(L\)-functions of degree 2 from the extended Selberg class, and extend \textit{S. M. Voronin}'s result from [Proc. Steklov Inst. Math. 157, 25--30 (1983; Zbl 0518.10033)]. Let \(\mathcal{S}_2^{\#}\) be the set of degree 2 \(L\)-functions from extended Selberg class. The linear twist \(F(s,\alpha)\), for Dirichlet coefficients \(a(n)\) and \(\alpha \in \mathbb R\), is defined by \[ F(s,\alpha)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{a(n)}{n^s}e^{-2 \pi i n \alpha}. \] Suppose that the conductor \(q_F \in \mathbb R_{+}\), and the shift of \(F(s)\) is \(\theta_F \in \mathbb R\). For \(a,b \in \mathbb Z\), \(q \in\mathbb R\), define the matrices \( M_{a,b}=\left(\begin{smallmatrix} 1 & a\\ qb & qab+1\end{smallmatrix}\right), \) and the group \( {\mathcal M}_q=\langle M_{a,b}: a,b \in \mathbb Z\rangle \setminus\{\pm I\} \) generated by such matrices without \(\pm\) the identity matrix. Let \(\mathbb Q(q)\) be the field generated by \(q\) over \(\mathbb Q\), and \( {\mathcal{A}}_q=\big\{\alpha \in \mathbb R \setminus \mathbb Q(q): \alpha=\frac{a-d\pm \sqrt{(a+d)^2-4}}{2c} \;\text{for some} \;\left(\begin{smallmatrix} a &b \\ c &d\end{smallmatrix}\right) \in {\mathcal M}_q\big\}. \) Then it is proved that \(F(s,\alpha)\) is meromorphic over \(\mathbb C\) for every \(\alpha \in {\mathcal A}_{qF}\) if \(F \in {\mathcal S}_2^{\#}\).
