The author's intention is to study the problem of existence and uniqueness of Haar measures on Hopf \(C^*\)-algebras. It is shown first that the states of a Hopf \(C^*\)-algebra with unit generate a compact convex semigroup. Using the Markov-Kakutani fixed point theorem, the author proves the existence and uniqueness of a Haar measure on cocommutative Hopf \(C^*\)-algebras with unit that includes in particular the class of group Hopf \(C^*\)-algebras associated with compact groups. Based on the Riesz representation theorem, it is further demonstrated the one-to-one correspondence between the Haar measure on commutative Hopf \(C^*\)-algebras and that on locally compact semigroups. This turns out to generalize the theorem about the existence of Haar measures on compact Abelian semigroups. The final result is that on any involutive Hopf \(C^*\)-algebra with Peter-Weyl property there exists a unique Haar measure.
