The authors prove a local version of the result due to A. Grothendieck that a subscheme of a local and complete \(n\)-dimensional irreducible scheme defined by \(p\) equations is connected in dimension \(n-p\). The proof is direct and based only on the standard methods of complex analytic geometry.
