Let \(F\neq 0\) be a Siegel cusp form of genus 2 and even weight \(k\), which is a Hecke eigenform with eigenvalues \(\lambda_ n\), \(n\in \mathbb{N}\). The author investigates the spinor zeta function attached to \(F\) \[ Z_ F (s)= \zeta (2s- 2k+ 4) \sum_{n\geq 1} \lambda_ n n^{-s} \] in the context of the generalized Ramanujan-Petersson conjecture. Suppose that the first Fourier-Jacobi coefficient \(\phi_ 1\) of \(F\) is nonzero. If \(F\) belongs to the orthogonal complement of the Maaß space the author demonstrates that \(Z_ F (s)\) converges for \(\text{Re} (s)> k-4/9\) or equivalently \[ \sum_{n\leq x} \lambda_ n= {\mathcal O}_ \varepsilon (x^{k- 4/9+ \varepsilon}) \qquad (\varepsilon> 0). \] This result cannot be true for \(F\) in the Maaß space. If \(\chi\) is a Dirichlet character modulo a prime \(p\) with \(\chi^ 2 \neq 0\), the author moreover derives \[ \sum_{n\leq x} \chi(n) \lambda_ n= {\mathcal O}_ \varepsilon (x^{k- 4/9+ \varepsilon}) \qquad (\varepsilon> 0) \] for all \(F\) with \(\phi_ 1\neq 0\). The proofs are based on a theorem of Landau and Sato-Shintani as well as the Rankin-Dirichlet series involving scalar products of Fourier- Jacobi coefficients [the author and \textit{N.-P. Skoruppa}, Invent. Math. 95, 541-558 (1989; Zbl 0665.10019)].
