In this paper, the authors determine the field equations in the Einstein- Yang-Mills field theory. These equations are obtained by applying a variational principle to a Lagrangian minimally coupled to a Lagrangian concomitant of a curvature form and the metric tensor. The general form of this Lagrangian is obtained and the uniqueness problem is considered.
