In this note the following is proved: Let R be a generically smooth reduced affine algebra over a field k. Assume R is equidimensional of dimension d and smoothable, and assume that \(\Omega^ d_{R/k}\), the module of d-differentials, is torsion free. Then R is a smooth k-algebra.
