The authors propose an algorithm for solving the following nonlinear convective-reaction-diffusion equation (1) \(u_t = \text{Re}^{-1} u_{xx} + [f(u)]x + g(u)\), where Re is the Reynolds number. This algorithm is constructed by using splitting-up techniques and cubic splines and has second order accuracy in accordance to the authors. A strict proof of the last results is not presented. The validity of the difference scheme is tested by applying it to the nonlinear Burgers equation and to equation (1) with \(f(u) = \varepsilon u^2/2\), \(g(u) = \alpha u^p\).
