The authors consider the initial value problem associated with a semilinear parabolic equation and its finite difference analogue. They commence by developing the local conservation relation for the finite difference system and giving the convergence analysis for this process. It is shown that there is convergence of the finite difference process when the solution of the differential equation is sufficiently smooth.
