The authors develop a double-surface generalized plasticity model for metal powder forming processes under cyclic loading, which take into account shear failure, friction and densification. The solution yields the powder displacements and stresses respectively, and describes the densification during a compaction process. For a successful numerical modelling of highly nonlinear behaviour, an adaptive analysis of the powder forming process is simulated by using the updated Lagrangian finite element method. Numerous numerical examples are worked out and partly compared with experimental results.
