The theory of induced representations was developed by G. W. Mackey for representations of locally compact groups. The theory was reformulated by M. A. Rieffel in the context of \(C^*\)-algebras. The paper under review goes further in this direction. For a coaction \(\delta\) of a locally compact group \(G\) on a \(C^*\)-algebra \(A\) and for a closed normal amenable subgroup \(H\) of \(G\), the author defines a coaction \(\delta'\) of \(G/H\) on \(A\). Using certain dense algebras he induces representations of the crossed product \(A\times_{\delta'}(G/H)\) to \(A\times_ \delta G\). An imprimitivity theorem is also formulated and a conjecture of Rieffel is proven.
