The authors formulate a constitutive model of contact friction, slip and wear occuring at workpiece-tool interfaces in metal-forming processes. The model of friction accounts for the evolution of contact state variables and for the contact pressure history effect on friction slip response. The importance of this effect is illustrated by the solution of two boundary value problems.
