This paper examines the optimal dose problem for a continuously delivered chemotherapeutic agent against a tumor. After examining several functional forms for tumor growth dynamics, the author uses a logistic (Verhulst-Pearl) equation for the untreated growth and two different models, linear or saturation, for the loss term. Using quadratic objective functions, the author examines the form of the optimal control in both cases.
