The authors describe some complex biological systems by simulating the dynamics of chaotic systems. Several applications and experimental findings are mentioned. The authors remark that phenomena observed in the dynamics of complex biological systems are, in many respects, similar to phenomena in quantum mechanics. Moreover, different methods to quantitatively describe the chaotic dynamics are suggested. For homeostatic biosystems a quasi-attractor is defined, which is a subset of the phase space where the state vector moves chaotically and is characterized by its Lebesgue measure.
