Starting from a complex finite dimensional vector space \(E\) and a linear operator \(A:E\rightarrow E\), the author studies pairs \((E,F)\) corresponding to the \(A\)-invariant subspaces \(F\subset E\). The obtained results are based on some notions, invariants and methods from Abelian group theory transposed in terms of linear operators. The main role is played by the notion of vertical subspace.
