As is known, the theory of stationary variational problems becomes simpler when the problems are considered in a suitable energy-Hilbert space. Here, the author takes as energy-Hilbert spaces completions of an initial space \(H\) in norms determined by symmetric compact operators \(M= M^*> 0\) and \(M^2\). The author studies the Newton equation \(M\,D^2_t u(t)+ u(t)= f(t)\), \(t\in [0, T]\), and gets results about well-posedness and a priori estimates.
