In order to reduce an autonomous system of ordinary differential equations by means of a coordinate transform to the normal form the approach of \textit{A. D. Bryuno} [Trans. Mosc. Math. Soc. 25, 131-288 (1971; Zbl 0272.34018)] is utilized. The authors derive a set of recursive formulae for the construction of the normalized reduced system and the corresponding normal transformation. The recursive structure of the technique allows the implementation of the formulae in a computer program. The resulting algorithm is applied to the following three examples: Van der Pol's equation, Mathieu's equation and Lorentz' equations.
