Developing his previous results in the light of recent contributions of Foias, Georgiou and Smith and of Ober and Skelton, the author establishes connections between the time-varying gap metric and the two-blocks problem and utilizes them to obtain criteria for robust stabilization of linear time-varying discrete systems. Relevant headings of sections: Stabilization and proper representations. Directed gaps and gaps. Stability formulations. The gap and two-block problems. Maximally stabilizing controllers. The gap metric and coprime factor perturbations.
