It is shown that the overdetermined system of equations, resulting from an application of the Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature method for singular integral equations of Cauchy type on an open interval, is consistent if and only if the discrete analog of the compatibility condition is satisfied. The behavior of solutions to inconsistent systems is also examined.
