We say that A admits upper triangularization by a lower triangular similarity, if there exists an invertible lower triangular matrix such that \(S^{-1}AS\) is upper triangular. Several sufficient conditions for such an S to exist are given. There is a connection with the problem of complete factorization of a transfer function and the problem of complementary triangularization of pairs of matrices.
