The authors construct an induced system and an induced branching process for the \(m\)-spread model. Classical results from substitution dynamical systems theory and the theory of branching processes are used for this aim. In particular, matrix representations of the systems under investigation are provided, thus allowing the authors to find computational methods to predict the long-term spread rate of a type (or a symbol) as well as a pattern within some given range of generations. As an application, a comparison between two spread models with different initial spread patterns is discussed. Moreover, the connection between the topological \(m\)-spread model and the random \(m\)-spread model is analyzed and some numerical results are provided at the end of the paper.
