The authors consider a steady flow of incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid over a stretching permeable wall. The solution of the plane problem is obtained with an idea from well-documented previous studies, and it turns out that there exists a simple analytic solution. This solution is applied to some important technical cases concerning metallurgy or chemical engineering, or more specifically to drawing, annealing and tinning of copper wires or purification of molten metals from nonmetallic inclusions.
