    One-step codes select the step size automatically to achieve a given local accuracy. The author analyses the four cases that have been implemented in practical codes and how the parameters are selected. He also clarifies the distinction of both measures commonly used of the efficiency of a code. Many comparisons are made and twenty one references included.
