\textit{N. Moshchevitin} [in: Analytic and probabilistic methods in number theory. Proceedings of the sixth international conference, Palanga, Lithuania, 2016. Vilnius: Vilnius University Publishing House. 123--148 (2017; Zbl 1439.11174)] introduced the notion of the second-best approximations to a real number (one considers the numbers that are the new best approximations after removing all classical best approximations). This leads to a generalised Markov spectrum for the corresponding second best-approximations. Note that two largest elements of this spectrum are already known. In this paper the author computes the value for the third element of the spectrum.
