Functionally invariant solutions to partial differential equations are families of solutions parametrized by the elements of some function space. If available, these last ones have the advantage to be ``big'' (typically infinite dimensional) so increasing the probability to contain solutions with some desired, nice properties. With these premises, the author applies the method of sturctural decomposition to obtain functionally invariant solutions to the ABC and Martínez Alonso-Shabat equations, as well as to a modified version of this last one. First, a geometrical and physical contextualization of these last ones is provided and their connections to other, related equations are recalled. Then, the method of structural decomposition for the search of functionally invariant solutions is described in some detail, from a pratical perspective. Eventually, some new localized -- and so physically relevant -- solutions to the equations mentioned above are provided and some intermediate steps of their calculation are reported explicitly.
