The author studies the oscillatory behavior of second-order general noncanonical differential equations of the form \[ (r(t)(y'(t))^\alpha)'+p(t)y^\beta(\tau(t))=0, \tag{E} \] when the nonlinearity is essential, that is, $\alpha\neq\beta$. She establishes two oscillation criteria (Theorems 1, 2) which essentially extend the earlier ones. An example illustrating the results is also given. The paper is well-written and the author provides enough details for the readers to follow her proofs.
