The authors consider the finite volume approximation of the weak solutions of a first-order system of evolution laws supplemented with entropy inequalities in one dimension. The existence of entropy inequalities is strongly related to the hyperbolicity of the system as long as it can be written in a conservation form. Thanks to the introduction of a suitable artificial numerical viscosity, the robustness and the entropy stability are proved.
