Condensation model reduction (CMR) theory, when viewed as a dynamic substructuring method, is shown to encompass many existing dynamic substructuring methods as special cases. The two main features of the paper are a presentation of CMR and a development in detail of CMR for the case of a second order linear dynamic system. The author also presents well known methods closely linked with special cases of the CMR method.
