For vector spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) a mapping \(f\colon X\times X\to Y\) is called a \textit{bi-Jensen} iff: \[ 2f\left(\frac{x+y}{2},z\right)=f(x,z)+f(y,z),\tag{1a}\] and \[ 2f\left(x,\frac{y+z}{2}\right)=f(x,y)+f(x,z),\qquad x,y,z\in X. \tag{1b} \] The above equations are generalized in this paper to the \textit{multi-variable bi-Jensen type} functional equation (with \(n>1\)): \[ n^2f\left(\frac{x_1+\cdots+x_n}{n},\frac{y_1+\cdots+y_n}{n}\right)=\sum_{i=1}^{n}\sum_{j=1}^{n}f(x_i,y_j),\qquad x_i,y_j\in X.\tag{2} \] Actually, as shown by the authors, conditions (1a)--(1b) and (2) are equivalent. The main purpose of the paper is to verify the stability of the equation (2) (note that stability depends also on the form of the equation and for two equivalent equations their stability properties may be different). It is done for the case of \(X\) being a normed space and \(Y\) being a 2-Banach space, as well as for the case of \(X\) being a quasi-normed space and \(Y\) being a \(p\)-Banach space. Namely, it has been shown that if \(f\colon X\times X\to Y\) is an \textit{approximate solution} of (2) (i.e., the difference of both sides of (2) is bounded in some specific sense) and \(f(x,0)=0\) for all \(x\in X\), then there exists a unique bi-additive mapping \(F\colon X\times X\to Y\) such that \(f(x,y)-f(0,y)\) is (in some specified sense) near to \(F(x,y)\) for all \((x,y)\). The classical direct method (i.e., Hyers' sequence method) is applied in the proofs.
