In this note, the authors clarify some important points about the well-posedness of terminal value problems for fractional differential equations. Some errors in the existing papers are pointed out. From new insights, the authors show that a wide class of terminal value problems of fractional differential equations is well posed. At last, some conclusions and open questions are presented.
