This article investigates conditions to ensure that an isometry from a weighted Banach space of holomorphic functions on the unit disc of the complex plane into another weighted Banach space of holomorphic functions is automatically surjective. The article continues work by the authors which is mentioned in the references. Rather than the function theoretic approach used in several other papers, they take up a functional analysis point of view. Section 5 presents three theorems concerning the most usual weights on the unit disc, that correspond to polynomial, exponential and logarithmic growths. A clarifying example is discussed in the sixth section. Consequences for Bloch-type spaces are included in the last section.
