    Let $\{c_s\}_{s=1}^\infty$ be a sequence of real numbers and consider a sequence of $2^s\times 2^s$ matrices \(A_s = \{a^s_{ij}\},\,\, s =1, 2, \dots\) by putting \[A_1:=\begin{bmatrix} 0 & -c_1 \\ c_1 & 0 \end{bmatrix}\] and \[A_s =\begin{bmatrix} A_{s-1} & -c_sE_{s-1} \\ c_sE_{s-1} & A_{s-1}\end{bmatrix}\] for $s=2, 3, \dots$, where $E_s$ is a $2^s\times 2^s$ matrix whose entries are equal to $1$. In this paper, the author generalizes a result of \textit{B. S. Kashin} [Russ. Math. Surv. 71, No. 6, 1135--1136 (2016); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 71, No. 6, 155--156 (2016; Zbl 1365.15049)] by giving estimates of the norms of the matrices $A_s$.
