This paper studies the geometry related to the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture [\textit{A. Strominger, S.-T. Yau} and \textit{E. Zaslow}, Nucl. Phys., B 479, No. 1--2, 243--259 (1996; Zbl 0896.14024)]. The authors consider a Calabi-Yau threefold with a special Lagrangian \(3\)-torus fibration, and using the ansatz of \textit{J. Loftin, S.-T. Yau,} and \textit{E. Zaslow} [J. Differ. Geom. 71, No. 1, 129--158 (2005; Zbl 1094.32007)], they construct examples of semi-flat Calabi-Yau metrics, using a solution of an affine sphere equation. For a special class of parameters, this is related to the Painlevé III equation.
