This article studies twisted A-type quiver representations over a complex algebraic curve \(X\) (of any genus). These quiver representations are also known as holomorphic chains and they are strictly related to the theory of twisted Higgs bundles. First of all, the authors compute the dimension of their moduli space. Then they restrict their attention to so-called \textit{argyle} quivers; in particular they give explicit geometric identifications of their moduli space when \(X=\mathbb P^1\), using geometric invariant theory. They obtain also a stratification of this moduli space by change of bundle type. In the last section the authors apply their results to twisted Higgs bundles, computing the \(\mathbb Q\)-Betti numbers of their moduli space for rank \(2\) and for some special cases of rank \(3\) and \(4\).
