Petri nets with structured tokens are defined using the formalism of abstract data types. Ground terms thereby are used to represent the markings. This gives a new, and hopefully more adequate setting for what is known from other high-level Petri nets. Place and transition invariants can be calculated using term substitution. This work should be compared with those by Vautherin, Battistion et al., Genrich and Jensen, that are discussed in this work.
