The author proves the following problem (related to the Jensen inequality) due to J.-C. Bourin for matrices: ``If \(X, Y\) are two selfadjoint operators acting on a Hilbert space \(H\), \(f\) is a continuous strictly increasing (or decreasing) convex function on some interval containing the spectra of \(X\) and \(Y\) and \(\langle f(X)\xi,\xi\rangle \geq f(\langle Y\xi,\xi\rangle),\, \langle f(Y)\xi,\xi\rangle \geq f(\langle X\xi,\xi\rangle)\) for any unit vector \(\xi \in H\), can we conclude that \(X = Y\)?'' (see also \textit{T. Ando} [Math. Inequal. Appl. 13, No. 2, 227--234 (2010; Zbl 1215.47016)] for a similar result). He also solves a modified problem in its full generality.
