Blichfeldt's inequality from 1921 is a classical result relating a convex body to points of a lattice. It gives an upper bound on the number of lattice points of an \(d\)-dimensional lattice contained in a \(d\)-dimensional convex body. A usual way to prove this result is to first replace the convex body by an appropriate lattice polytope and then study triangulations of this polytope into lattice simplices. In the paper under review, the authors introduce a notion of polytope and convex hull in the adele space. These notions allow them to consider adelic triangulations which lead to an adelic Blichfeldt-type inequality (Theorem 1.1).
