Let \(R\) be a complete discrete valuation ring, and let \(X\) be a regular strict semi-stable curve over \(R\). The aim of the paper under review is to develop a simplicial calculus to determine intersection numbers explicitly in the special fibre of \(X\). This calculus was introduced on the subring of the Chow group with support in the special fibre, which is generated by the classes of the irreducible components of the special fibre of the Gross-Schoen desingularization of the \(d\)-fold self product of \(X\). The ingredient is a localization formula which reduces the problem of calculating intersection numbers to a special situation. The author's work generalized Zhang's work for \(d=2\) [\textit{S.-W. Zhang}, Invent. Math. 179, No. 1, 1--73 (2010; Zbl 1193.14031)] to arbitrary \(d\). | |||
