Let \(S=K[x_{1},\dots,x_{n}]\) be a polynomial ring over a field \(K\). Let \(I=\bigcap_{I=1}^{s}\) be an irredundant primary decomposition of a monomial ideal \(I\) in \(S\), where the \(Q_{i}'s\) are also monomial ideals. Lyubeznik acquired that \[ \text{depth}(S/I)\geq\text{siz}(I) \] where \(\text{size}(I)\) is the number \(v+n-h-1\) with \(v\) is the minimal number \(t\) such that there exists \(j_{1}<\dots<j_{t}\) with \(\sqrt{\sum_{k=1}^{t}Q_{jk}}=\sqrt{\sum_{j=1}^{s}Q_{j}}\), and \(h=\text{ht}\sum_{j=1}^{s}Q_{j}\) [\textit{G. Lyubeznik}, J. Algebra 112, No. 1, 86--89 (1988; Zbl 0639.13015)]. Stanley conjectured that \[ \text{sdepth}(M)\geq\text{depth}(M) \] where \(M\) is a nonzero finite generated \(S\) module and \(\text{sdepth}(M)\) is the Stanley depth of \(M\) [\textit{R. P. Stanley}, Invent. Math. 68, 175--193 (1982; Zbl 0516.10009)]. \textit{J. Herzog} et al. showed that \[ \text{sdepth}(I)\geq\text{size}(I)+1, \] [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 140, No. 2, 493--504 (2012; Zbl 1234.13013)] and \textit{Z. Tang} proved that \(\text{sdepth}(S/I)\geq\text{size}(I)\) [J. Algebra 409, 430--443 (2014; Zbl 1304.13022)]. In this paper, the author generalizes Herzog, Popescu and Vladoiu's technique and investigate the quotient \(I/J\) when \(J\subsetneq I\) are general monomial ideals. The author shows \[ \text{min}\{\text{depth}(I/J),\text{sdepth}(I/J)\}\geq\text{size}(I,J). \] \textit{L. Katthän} and \textit{S. A. S. Fakhari} proved that \[ \text{min}\{\text{depth}(I/J),\text{sdepth}(I/J)\}\geq n-l(I,J)+1 \] where \(l(I,J)\) is the maximum integer \(t\) for which there exists monomials \(u_{1},\dots,u_{t}\) in the monomial generating sets of \(I\) and \(J\) such that \[ u_{1}\neq\text{lcm}(u_{1},u_{2})\neq\dots\neq\text{lcm}(u_{1},\dots,u_{t}) \] [Math. Nachr. 288, No. 11--12, 1360--1370 (2015; Zbl 1373.13009)]. The author provides an alternate proof of the inequality.
