This paper is devoted to the study of continuum approximations for pulses generated by impulsive initial data in binary exciton chain systems. In the first part, the author is concerned with the description of the Hamiltonian structure, conserved quantities and symmetries of the ordinary differential equation systems. Next, he studies the mimetic fourth-order accurate discrete gradient numerical method used in order to respect those conserved quantities and symmetries. Section 4 summarizes some background and establishes the basic methods and ideas for the simplest case without binary alternation. The next section is devoted to the derivation of the new partial differential system proposed as a continuum approximation of the behavior for the fastest moving pulses seen to develop in the binary exciton chain system. Section 6 demonstrates the accuracy of this approximation for various parameter ranges. Conclusions are summarized in the final part. | |||
