In [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 368, No. 7, 5037--5055 (2016; Zbl 1409.16006)], \textit{M. Fang} and \textit{S. Koenig} introduced the notion of a gendo-symmetric algebra, that is, an algebra which appears as the endomorphism ring of a generator over a symmetric algebra. In the paper under review, the author gives the alternative characterisation, that an algebra is gendo-symmetric if and only if its \(k\)-dual \(D(A)\) can be equipped with the structure of an \(A\)-coring, also called a bocs. He also shows that the Kleisli category of the associated comonad is equivalent to the module category of the corresponding symmetric algebra.
