In this paper the following Keller-Segel system modeling chemotaxis is considered \[ \begin{cases} u_t = \Delta u^m-\nabla \cdot (u\nabla c), & x\in \mathbb{R}^d, t\geq 0, \\ -\Delta c = u, & x\in \mathbb{R}^d, t\geq 0, \\ u(x,0)=U_0(x)\geq 0, & x\in \mathbb{R}^d. \end{cases} \] Here \(d\geq 3\), \(u(t,x)\) represents the bacteria density, and \(c(x,t)\) represents the concentration of a certain chemical substance. The authors analyze the global existence of a weak solution to the system in terms of the diffusion exponent \(m\) in the range \((0,2-2/d)\). Conditions for global existence and blowing up at finite time are provided. For steady state solutions, it is also shown that the energy critical exponent \(m=2d/(d+2)\) is the critical exponent separating finite \(L^p\) norm and infinite \(L^p\) norm with \(p={d(2-m)\over 2}\).
