In a vector space, a frame is a concept that generalizes a basis. Frames are useful in a number of applications, such as sampling theory, wavelet theory, signal and image processing, and have been studied by several authors. They can be dualized, but not always uniquely. The author investigates the diagonalization of square complex matrices by means of frame changes instead of basis changes and describes several methods for constructing frames for frame diagonalization. This topic has been studied by other authors, in particular for infinitely dimensional vector spaces.
