The homomorphisms between the Dickson-Mùi algebras as modules over the Steenrod algebra (Q5891621): Difference between revisions

Let \(p\) be a prime number, let \(A\) be the modulo \(p\) Steenrod algebra, \(V\) an elementary abelian \(p\)-group and \(GL(V)\) the general linear group. We denote by \(D(V)=(H^{*}(V,\; \mathbb{F}_{p}))^{GL(V)}\) (Dickson-Mùi algebra) the sub-algebra of \(H^{*}(V,\; \mathbb{F}_{p})\) of invariants under the natural action of \(GL(V)\) on the modulo \(p\) cohomology of the group \(V\). In this paper the author studies the set \(\Hom_{A}(\widetilde{D}(V),\; \widetilde{D}(U))\) of \(A\)-linear maps from \(\widetilde{D}(V)\) to \(\widetilde{D}(U)\) (\(\widetilde{D}(-)\) denotes the reduced Dickson-Mùi algebra). The author gives a basis of the \(\mathbb{F}_{p}\)-vector space \(\Hom_{A}(\widetilde{D}(V),\; \widetilde{D}(U))\) and determines some properties of the algebra \(End_{A}(\widetilde{D}(V))\). The proofs use the injectivity of \(H^{*}(V,\; \mathbb{F}_{p})\) in the category of unstable \(A\)-modules.
