In this carefully written paper, the first-named author's project (with various co-authors) of studying the transfer operator approach in conjunction with continued fractions is continued here in a setting of (infinitely many) non-arithmetic Fuchsian groups. An interesting twist is that the coding of closed geodesics by periodic points under the continued fraction map is not quite 1-1, causing the Selberg zeta function to be expressed as the quotient of two Fredholm determinants.
