Multiplication groups of topological loops (Q5891810): Difference between revisions

Let \(L\) be a connected topological loop and \(\mathrm{Mult}(L)\) be its multiplication group, i.e. the group generated by all left and right translations. The condition for \(\mathrm{Mult}(L)\) to be a Lie group is a rather strong restriction. In this paper the author gives some brief but very informative review for the investigation of Lie groups \(G\) which can be realized as multiplication groups of loops (in the cases, when \(\dim(L) = 1,2\) or 3). For \(\dim(L)=3\) only some partial results are known. The main difficulties are for the cases of solvable Lie groups \(G\). Some general results are also formulated.
