The author considers system of non-isentropic one-dimensional gas dynamics: The gas is either ideal or polytropic. The initial data have bounded variation. The solution is classically obtained (by the random choice method) solving the Riemann problem. The paper focuses on lemmas used for estimating amplitudes of waves that describe the solution.
