The authors discuss fast preconditioned iterative methods for finite volume discretization of steady-state space-fractional diffusion equations. They propose and develop scaled-circulant preconditioners for the discretized matrix arising from the finite volume discretization method of steady-state variable coefficient conservative fractional fractional diffusion equations. They construct and study the proposed preconditioner. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed preconditioner.
