Let \(f\in\mathbb Z[x]\) be a polynomial, \(\omega_1,\ldots,\omega_k\) a basis in the number field \(K\) and \[ N(x_1,\ldots,x_k)=N_{K/Q}(x_1\omega_1+\ldots + x_k\omega_k) \] . The author considers equations of type \[ f(t)=N(x_1,\ldots,x_k) \] satisfying the Hasse principal, that is if there exists a solution mod \(p\) for all primes and in the reals, then there exists a rational solution, too. \textit{T. D. Browning} and \textit{D. R. Heath-Brown} [Geom. Funct. Anal. 22, No. 5, 1124--1190 (2012; Zbl 1264.14032)] gave a survey about the present state of this problem, they show that the Hasse principal holds if \(f\) is quadratic and \(K\) is a quartic number field. The authors extend this result to an irreducible cubic polynomial \(f\) under certain conditions on the prime ideals of \(K\) and the number field generated by a root of \(f\).
