    The authors consider the modified Oberbeck-Boussinesq equations \[ \frac{\partial v}{\partial t}+(v\cdot\nabla)v-\nu\Delta v+\alpha|v|^{\sigma(\theta)-2}v+\nabla p=f(\theta),\quad \operatorname{div}v=0,\qquad \frac{\partial \theta}{\partial t}+v\cdot\nabla\theta=\Delta\varphi(\theta) \quad\text{in }\Omega, \] \[ v=v_0, \quad \theta=\theta_0 \quad\text{for }t=0, \qquad v=0, \quad \varphi(\theta)=\varphi_*\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega. \] Here \(\Omega\subset{\mathbb R}^n\) is a bounded domain with a compact boundary, \(n\geq 2\), \(v\) is the velocity field, \(p\) is the pressure, \(\theta\) is the absolute temperature, \(\varphi\) is a nonlinear function expressing the thermal conductivity, \(v_0\), \(\theta_0\) and \(\varphi_*\) are given functions, \(\alpha\) and \(\nu\) are positive constants, \(\sigma\) is a temperature depending function such that \(\sigma(\theta)>1\). It is proved that the problem has a weak solution. The uniqueness of a weak solution is proved for \(n=2\). The asymptotic stability in time is studied too.
